From time to time, I've noticed that users may accidentally associate a .lnk (shortcut file) to an application, such as word. A user will write in our helpdesk frantic as suddenly all of there desktop shorts now have a work icon and every application they attempt to lauch will open in word.
The problem is that the .lnk file type has associated with another program (in the case of the example Microsoft Word)
Unfortunately fixing the .lnk file type association is not as easy as any other file type, and requires editing the registry.
